A refreshing and earthy cup of Matcha Latte is just enough to brighten up your dull mornings. Today I am writing to share my knowledge on how we can achieve the best quality of Matcha Latte with all the necessary tips and tricks. Without wasting time, lets sip through it.
What is Matcha Latte? This smooth and creamy latte is inspired by the one and only 'cafΓ© latte'. Here, the espresso shot is replaced with Matcha paste, giving your latte a perfect vibrant green colour paired with bitter sweet flavour. My favorite version definitely has to be the Iced Matcha Latte. Due to the addition of ice, the bitterness of the tea is cut down and as a beginner with Matcha, I recommend trying it cold.
Milk: which kind is better?Savouring matcha latte with regular milk was pretty decent to taste. But on my second try, I went with almond milk, and it was a game changer. Because almond milk is known to have a light and nutty flavour, it paired really well with Matcha. In addition to that, I recommend a splash of vanilla which reduced the bitterness and gave the latte a sweet feel.
Bamboo Whisk: a tool to elevate your Latte Handcrafted with a single piece of Bamboo, this tool will definitely upscale your latte. I first made Matcha Latte at home using a hand whisk. It was not smooth and creamy and did contain lumps as well. Which is why I started using Bamboo whisk for my daily lattes. Containing 16 strings in the whisk itself makes it easier to break down the lumps. Vigorous yet gentle mixing leads to good frothing. You could also use a milk frother, but again the results are not as good as a Bamboo Whisk.
Lets make some Iced Matcha Latte for ourselves
Making a perfect latte is not everyone's cup of tea. But do not worry when I am here. I have perfected this one recipe that I'd like to share. Lets get into it!
SERVES: 1

ICED MATCHA LATTE with almond milk, honey & dash of vanilla
STEP: 1 Matcha paste In a bowl, add 1 tsp of sieved matcha powder and 1/4 cup of warm water. Whisk side to side with the help of a Bamboo Whisk until there are no lumps and is frothy enough.
STEP: 2 Addition of honey & vanilla In the same bowl, add 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Whisk side to side.
STEP: 3 Froth milk Warm 3/4 cup of almond milk and froth with the help of milk frother.
STEP: 4 Ice & serve In a glass, add ice cubes, frothed almond milk and finally, slowly pour in the matcha paste to achieve the ombre effect. Stir and enjoy chilled!
